BODY ARMOUR PLATES
BPT manufactures a wide variety of hard body armour plates including lightweight plates, multi-tile plates, monolithic ceramic plates and flexible ceramic plates. The composition of the plates depend on the requirements and materials used which include Ceramic, Aramid Fibre, HPPE, Armour Steel, Fiberglass, special polymers and composites of these materials. By applying its experience in the production of
one million body armour plates in the past 17 years,
and combining special materials in specific ways, BPT can manufacture plates conforming to most requirements and standards. Special plates can also be manufactured for special requirements.
All development and testing is performed at BPT’s own indoor test facility. BPT’s testing range is also used for verifying the protection requirements of plates. If required, customers may attend and verify these tests themselves.
BPT can tailor make body armour plates to the exact user requirements which can differ in size, shape, weight, outer finish and protection level. Depending on the client’s requirements these plates can be based on any of the following concepts:
· S-A (Stand Alone). In this case the plate will provide the total protection requirement on its own and an additional soft armour panel behind the plate is not required. These plates are generally the heavier and more expensive than other plates.
· SIP (Stop in Plate). These plates are designed to be used in conjunction with soft armour behind the plate, but with requirement that all the bullets should be stopped in the hard armour plate. Middle price and middle weight.
· ICW (In Conjunction With). These lightweight composite plates are used to upgrade the protection level of soft armour jackets to provide protection against rifle attack. These plates are generally the least expensive and have the lowest weight.
